Roberts in Cancer Fight - Ipswich Town News

Town's reserve coach Dale Roberts has vowed to beat Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a form of cancer which affects glands related to the immune system. The 45-year-old was diagnosed recently and now faces six months of chemotherapy and radio therapy.

The disease first came to Roberts' notice when his arm became discoloured and swollen. After visiting Dave Williams he saw the club doctor Steve Roberts who sent him to Ipswich Hospital.

A growth in his chest was discovered which had caused problems in his blood flow, hence the problems with his arm.

Roberts has long been George Burley's right-hand man and says he has few day-to-day problems caused by the disease: "I feel fine in myself. Other than a swollen arm, you would never know that I had a problem."

He has been forced to change his working hours due to the disease but plans to keep a normal life as much as possible. TWTD wishes him well for a speedy recovery.
