Duo Make Debuts - Ipswich Town News
Darren Bent and Matt Bloomfield will both make their debuts for the England U19s at Portman Road on Thursday night. U19s coach Martin Hunter says he will use all his players in the friendly game against Germany.
Bent has been capped at all England levels since making his debut as a 15-year-old while Bloomfield made an appearance for the England U17s last summer in Italy. Both are still eligible for the U17s.
A proud Bloomfield said: "To walk out on the Portman Road pitch wearing an England shirt will be the proudest moment of my life. It is something I have been dreaming about since I was a very young lad."
Bent is particularly pleased to be making his England U19 bow at his home ground: "It is even more special to be making my U19 debut for England at Portman Road because the fans are so special. They have been so good to me and have backed me in the youth team, the reserves and when I made the first team for Ipswich. So it will be brilliant for me and hopefully I can give them something to cheer about."
Town have sold 16,000 tickets for Thursday night's match (KO 8pm).
