Town are reported to be one of a number of Championship clubs interested in Leicester striker Chris Wood.
According to the Daily Mirror AFC Bournemouth, Wolves and the Blues are all eyeing the 23-year-old, who is Tommy Smith’s room-mate when they are on international duty with New Zealand. The Championship-leading Cherries would appear to be the frontrunners.
Wood is yet to start for the Foxes since their promotion to the Premier League, having scored eight goals last season, four in the Championship, four in the Capital One Cup.
Born in Auckland, Wood started his British career with West Brom, spending time out on loan with Barnsley, Brighton, Birmingham, Bristol City, Millwall and Leicester before joining the Foxes permanently for £2 million in January 2013.
Speaking on Monday, Town boss Mick McCarthy said he was in no hurry to add to his squad during the January transfer window, believing it would be difficult to improve on the players already at his disposal.
However, the Blues would currently appear to be short of an experienced striker, although it seems likely that Noel Hunt will rejoin Town at some stage during January, the Irishman’s current loan from Leeds having come to an end following yesterday’s 3-0 home victory over Charlton.
