Local Charity Talitha Koum Holding Collection at Derby Match - Ipswich Town News

Local charity Talitha Koum will be collecting at Portman Road prior to Saturday's live Sky game against Derby.

TK is a community charity, helping women to break free from addictions, which began after the murders of five Ipswich girls in 2006.

The charity aims to support vulnerable women whose lives have been shattered by addictions, particularly from drug and alcohol abuse.

Recent national news bulletins reported deaths in Ipswich through ecstasy use and highlight the continuing problem Ipswich faces from drugs. Alcohol-related admissions to hospital and violent crime are higher in Ipswich than the national average.

TK arranges regular meetings in Ipswich for women with addictions to support one another and help each other break free from addictive behaviour.

A rehabilitation centre is also now being built on the outskirts of Ipswich which will provide residential support so that women who are rebuilding their lives can have a fresh start back in community.

Collectors will have contact information to hand and further information can also be found on their website.
