U18s Win 4-3 at Charlton - Ipswich Town News

Town’s U18s came from being a goal down at half-time behind to beat Charlton 4-3 at the Addicks’ Sparrows Lane training ground earlier this afternoon.

Shane McLoughlin hit a penalty on 58, Kundai Benyu added Town’s second in the 72nd minute, Chris Smith scored the third five minutes later before Danish midfielder Victor Guldbrandsen (pictured) netted the decisive goal three minutes from time.

The young Blues play again on Tuesday when they take on Sunderland in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup at the Stadium of Light (7pm), having won at Colchester on penalties in the third round.

Coincidentally, the U18s, who are coached by Gerard Nash and Alan Lee, were knocked out of last year’s competition by the Black Cats at the third round stage last year, the Wearsiders winning a penalty shoot-out.

The winners will face Newcastle United at home in the fifth round of the competition.

U18s: McDermid, Emmanuel, Fowler (Daly 76), Smith, Kenlock, McLoughlin (Patterson 70), Guldbrandsen, Benyu, Ford (Ellis 70), Ramadan, Blanchfield. Unused: Jones.
