Blues Linked With Dutch Defender - Ipswich Town News
Town are reported to be eyeing young Dutch defender Wesley Hoedt, who is currently with the Blues’ 1981 UEFA Cup final opponents AZ Alkmaar.
According to De Telegraaf, Town are keeping tabs on 20-year-old Hoedt, who is out of contract in the summer and looking to move on.
Previously, the likes of Lazio, Ajax, Feyenoord and FC Twente have been linked with the highly-rated 6ft 3½in tall central defender, so he would appear an unrealistic target unless the Blues are promoted to the Premier League.
Hoedt, who came through the youth ranks at AZ and broke into the senior side last season, has been capped at U19 and U20 levels by Holland.
Meanwhile, Derby chief operating officer John Vicars was somewhat dismissive of the Blues and the Portman Road crowd on Twitter following Saturday’s game.
