McCarthy: Tyrone's Going Nowhere - Ipswich Town News

Town boss Mick McCarthy has again reiterated that left-back Tyrone Mings will be going nowhere during the January transfer window.

Yesterday, the 21-year-old was reported to be interesting Stoke City, with Arsenal and plenty of other Premier League sides having been keeping tabs on the former Chippenham Town man this season.

Asked about the Stoke report McCarthy said: "They haven’t got enough money. Well, they might have enough money but they’ll not be prepared to pay it. He’s not going anywhere, you might as well hear it from me. He’s not.”

Questioned whether he expects Arsenal specifically to come in for Mings later on in the window, he added: "He’s a really good player but he’s not going anywhere, he might as well hear that as well because it’s always the case that they think ‘is it going to happen,is it not going to happen’.

"Why would he not want to try and get promoted with us because we’re in a really good position.”
