Bialkowski Starts But No Place for Sammon in 18 - Ipswich Town News

Bartosz Bialkowski starts for the Blues in tonight’s FA Cup third round replay against his old club Southampton at Portman Road with Dean Gerken having picked up an injury, while there is no place in the 18 for the apparently exiting Conor Sammon.

Ill trio Teddy Bishop, Jay Tabb and Cole Skuse miss out, while Tyrone Mings drops to the bench having tweeted that he was under the weather earlier in the week. Jonny Parr is at left-back.

With Sammon, who appears set to end his loan ahead of a move to Rotherham, missing and Noel Hunt ineligible having not been at the club for the first game, first-year pro Darren McQueen is amongst the subs. Third-choice keeper Michael Crowe is also on the bench.

Southampton make five changes from the team which beat Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford with Morgan Schneiderlin, who scored in the 1-1 draw with the Blues, misses out due to a knock. Ex-Blues keeper Kelvin Davis is on the bench.

Town: Bialkowski, Chambers (c), Parr, Berra, Smith, Hyam, Bru, Ambrose, S Hunt, Murphy, McGoldrick. Subs: Crowe, Mings, Clarke, Stewart, Anderson, McQueen, Bajner.

Southampton: Forster, Clyne, Fonte (c), Gardos, Targett, Wanyama, Reed, Ward-Prowse, Tadić, Bertrand, Long. Subs: K Davis, S. Davis, Cork, Pelle, Isgrove, McCarthy, Hesketh.
