Wordsworth Joins Crawley - Ipswich Town News
Blues midfielder Anthony Wordsworth has joined League One Crawley Town on a 93-day loan.
The 26-year-old, whose Town contract is up at the end of the season, has just returned from a half-season spell at Rotherham where he rarely featured, making just three starts and three sub appeararances - the last of them in October - and scoring one goal.
Speaking last week, manager Mick McCarthy reiterated that neither Wordsworth nor striker Paul Taylor, who was also on loan with the Millers, would be in his plans on their return to Town.
"They won’t be coming back and playing," he said. "It’s up to them to get themselves clubs or get themselves deals elsewhere."
Crawley manager Dean Saunders is pleased to add Wordsworth, who joined the Blues from Colchester in January 2013, to his squad ahead of their trip to Rochdale on Saturday.
"I’m delighted Anthony has agreed to come here because he’s going to be a great addition to our squad in an area of the team we need to strengthen," Saunders told the Red Devils official site.
"He’s aggressive, mobile and he can bring goals to the team as well. I know he’s looking forward to a new challenge with us over the next three months and to be playing regularly in League One."
