Keeper Kenny Leaves Bolton - Ipswich Town News
Town target Paddy Kenny has left Bolton Wanderers with his short-term contract at an end and, as revealed on Saturday, is now set to join the Blues, signing terms until the end of the season.
Following Town’s 3-1 win at Millwall, manager Mick McCarthy confirmed that a deal had been agreed to sign a new keeper as cover for Dean Gerken, who is out with the hip injury which is expected to sideline him for around a month.
Confirmation of Kenny's signing is likely to come on Tuesday morning before the Blues make the trip to Brighton ahead of Wednesday's game against the Seagulls.
Halifax-born Kenny, 36, started his career with Bradford Park Avenue, moving on to Bury and Whitby Town (loan) before he joined Sheffield United, initially on loan, in 2002.
After eight years at Bramall Lane, Kenny joined QPR and Leeds before signing a short-term deal Bolton, with whom he didn’t make an appearance, last summer.
In November the seven-times-capped Republic of Ireland international joined Oldham on loan, where he made four starts in a spell which ended earlier this month.
