Blackburn Striker Linked - Ipswich Town News
Blackburn striker Luke Varney is the latest striker to be linked with a loan move to the Blues.
The 32-year-old is currently out of favour at Ewood Park and looks set to go out on loan with a switch to Millwall having broken down close to the end of the transfer window.
Town, Brighton and Sheffield Wednesday are amongst a number of Championship clubs currently understood to be showing interest.
Varney started his career with Crewe and has subsequently has spells with Charlton, Derby, Sheffield Wednesday, Blackpool, Portsmouth and Leeds before joining Rovers in the summer following a loan at the end of last season.
The Leicester-born 5ft 11in tall striker has made only one start - in the Capital One Cup in August - and 13 sub appearances during 2014/15.
Town boss Mick McCarthy appears keen to add another frontman to his squad, having made an ultimately unsuccessful move for Leeds’ Billy Sharp last month, while cover might be required if Noel Hunt is out for any length of time with the knee injury he suffered at Fulham on Saturday.
