Hewitt Extends Colchester Loan - Ipswich Town News

Wales U21 international Elliott Hewitt has extended his loan with Colchester United by another month.

The right-back, who has played on the right of midfield for the U’s recently, will now remain at the Weston Homes Community Stadium until mid-March with Town able to recall him at 24 hours’ notice.

Colchester boss Tony Humes has been impressed with the 20-year-old’s performances since he initially joined them back in October.

"Elliott has done very well for us and gives us a different option,” ex-Town centre-half Humes told the official Colchester site.

"I think we missed him when he was out suspended [following a red card against Leyton Orient] and he has been great since he's been back, including two assists in Saturday's [3-2] win against Bristol City."

Hewitt, who has made 20 starts for the U’s and has scored one goal, is out of contract at Portman Road this summer but with the club having an option for a further season.
