Taylor Training With Blackburn - Ipswich Town News

Out-of-favour Town striker Paul Taylor is training with Blackburn Rovers and could join the Lancashire side on loan.

The 27-year-old hasn’t returned to the Blues since ending his loan spell at Rotherham in January with manager Mick McCarthy having told him to stay away and to find a new club.

"He’s not coming back and his agent’s been dealing with it. It’s with him and Paul. He’s not coming back, full stop,” McCarthy said in January.

Taylor, who is understood to be the club’s highest-earning player on around £10,000 a week, is out of contract at the end of the season.

The Liverpudlian joined the Blues from Peterborough in the summer of 2012 for an initial fee of £1.5 million, which could ultimately have risen to £2.5 million.

He made only nine starts and 16 sub appearances for Town, scoring one goal, and missed almost a year of football due to a toe injury.

Rovers have scope to make a couple of additions to their squad despite being under a Financial Fair Play embargo with former Town loanee Bradley Orr's contract having been terminated by mutual consent.

Orr, who was with the Blues between November 2012 and Janaury 2013, making 13 appearances, has announced his retirement from football.
