Blackburn Yet to Decide on Taylor Loan - Ipswich Town News

Blackburn Rovers manager Gary Bowyer says he’s yet to decide whether to sign Town striker Paul Taylor on loan. The 27-year-old has been training with the Lancashire side for the last month.

"He’s training with us, it’s an opportunity for us just to have a quick look for him and we’ll take it from there,” Bowyer told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"The lad has got some ability, there’s no doubt about that. You only need to look at his CV to see that he has had a decent career, people have seen the talent he has, but we’re just monitoring the situation.”

Rovers are subject to a Financial Fair Play embargo but are currently able to sign a limited number of players on loan.

Bowyer added: "We’re able to loan, that’s the situation we have at this moment in time, we need to just make sure that whoever we bring in is the right person to enhance the squad.”

Taylor hasn’t been back at Town since ending his loan spell at Rotherham in January with manager Mick McCarthy having told him to stay away and to find a new club.

"He’s not coming back and his agent’s been dealing with it. It’s with him and Paul. He’s not coming back, full stop,” McCarthy said in January.

Taylor, who is understood to be the club’s highest-earning player on around £10,000 a week, is out of contract at the end of the season.

The Liverpudlian joined the Blues from Peterborough in the summer of 2012 for an initial fee of £1.5 million, which could ultimately have risen to £2.5 million.

He made only nine starts and 16 sub appearances for Town, scoring one goal, and missed almost a year of football due to a toe injury.
