Nigeria Appoint Onigbinde - Ipswich Town News
The Nigerian football authorities have moved swiftly to appoint Festus Onigbinde as Finidi George's new international manager. It was only yesterday that Amodu Shaibu was sacked after the disappointing African Nations' Cup campaign.
Onigbinde was previously manager between 1982 and 1984 when he took Nigeria to silver in the 1984 ANC. They lost 3-1 in the final to Cameroon.
However, his period of management was not without its critics who saw his methods as sometimes bizarre while others criticised his lack of success as a player.
More recently he managed the Shooting Stars of Ibadan to the final of the African Champions' League, is a member of CAF's technical committee as well as a FIFA technical instructor. He has also worked with the Trinidad and Tobago FA.
