Town are hoping to get Martin Smith to put his signature to a contract today. The 24 year old former Sunderland player is amongst those off on the usual pre-season jaunt round Scandinavia. Let's hope it leads to Town's usual excellent start to the season that has served us so well in recent years. Er..  
The squad is: Wright, Salmon, Wilnis, Clapham, Thetis, Venus, Mowbray, Brown, Tanner, Stockwell, Holland, Magilton, Smith, Niven, Holster, Johnson, Scowcroft, Naylor and Midgley. Missing are injury victims Holland and Bramble.
