Town boss Mick McCarthy currently isn’t looking to make any loan signings but says the facility to add players to his squad before the deadline on Thursday 26th March is there if required.
"I’ve got nobody coming in, not at the moment,” McCarthy said. "We don’t need anybody.”
"I hear somebody screaming [at me saying] with 10 games to go that we don’t need anybody. Need and what you can get are two different things.
"The majority of the players who have got us where we are have been brilliant, then we’ve got Woody, Reg Varney and Chappers, who did really well, they’ve all come in to help. I’m cool with what I’ve got.”
But he says that the facility is there to bring someone in if he needs to do so in the next fortnight: "Of course.”
Regarding Chappers, midfielder Richard Chaplow, McCarthy says Millwall - now managed by Neil Harris following Ian Holloway’s sacking earlier in the week - didn’t request a recall clause when the 30-year-old joined the Blues on loan towards the end of last month.
"Not to my knowledge, we’ve signed him until after the play-offs,” he added. "They didn’t ask for one.”
Asked what his response is when fans say he ought to have been given more money to spend in January, he said: "I don’t say anything. You know my thoughts on all of that. I do the job with the facilities, the players, the advantages I have, everything. I just take it in my stride and get on with it.
"What’s the point? I don’t get that you should be wishing for something. If it’s not there, there’s no point in wishing for it. Get out there and do the best you can with what you’ve got.
"And I think that’s why we’ve done so well, that’s what we do. We get on with it and we’re not always looking for something else, something that’s not going to be there and regretting it.
"And we’re still pushing for promotion with 10 games to go. I don’t think it’s the time to be looking back and thinking ‘Woe is me’ because woe isn’t me at all. Me is cracking on trying to win promotion.”
