U18s Beat QPR - Ipswich Town News

Town's U18s recorded their second consecutive 4-2 victory with a win against Queens Park Rangers at Playford Road on Saturday morning. A brace from schoolboy Ben Morris and strikes from Cemal Ramadan (pictured) and Sam Ford secured the three points.

Midfielder Andre Dozzell had already seen an early goalbound effort blocked before Ramadan opened the scoring on five minutes with a deflected effort from close range that looped over keeper Conor Hudnott and into the far corner of the net.

Town were in control but the visitors were presented with a great opportunity to equalise with their first dangerous attack on 37. Chris Smith was adjudged to have pulled a Hoops shirt in the box and Andreas Komodikis sent Sam McDermid the wrong way from the spot.

However, the young Blues reacted well and regained their lead four minutes later when Morris scored his first competitive goal at this level after being played through on goal by Ramadan.

Ford added to the lead on the stroke of half-time after dispossessing a defender from a short goal-kick and placing the ball past Hudnott.

Rangers pulled a goal back with the last kick of the half when a cross from the left was smashed into the roof of the net by Joshua Bowler from 12 yards.

Despite Town's pressure, the second half only saw one goal with Morris netting his second on 63 after a delightful ball through the defence from Dozzell.

Gerard Nash and Alan Lee's youngsters fully deserved their win and probably should have scored more. Morris impressed on the right wing and took his goals well, while Dozzell and Smith were influential throughout.

U18s: McDermid, Daly, Kenlock, Maynard, Salaudeen (Walton Owen 71), Cole, Morris, Smith, Ford (Fullwood 90), Dozzell, Ramadan. Unused: Hayes, Muamba, Woolfenden.
