U21s Lose at Birmingham - Ipswich Town News
Town’s U21s were beaten 2-0 by Birmingham City at St Andrew’s this evening.
Reece Brown - not the same player who was on loan with the Blues a couple of seasons back - netted the opening goal in the 13th minute and Viv Solomon-Otabor added the second on 69.
Stephen Hunt was the only senior player involved, although youngsters Matt Clarke and Kundai Benyu were both in the 18 at Watford on Saturday and Kyle Hammond travelled with the squad. Academy keeper Sam McDermid made his U21s debut and made a string of saves.
Also included again was 17-year-old Canadian striker Dario Zanatta in their starting line-up.
Zanatta joined the Vancouver Whitecaps youth set-up in 2011 and is an U18 international with Canada.
He is now looking for a club in Europe and recently spent time on trial with Swedish side IFK Göteborg.
