Crowe Joining Woking On Loan - Ipswich Town News

Town keeper Michael Crowe is joining Vanarama Conference side Woking on loan for the remainder of the season.

Wales U19 international Crowe, 19, has been on the first-team bench on a number of occasions, most recently at Watford on Saturday, but is yet to make his senior debut for the Blues.

Speaking last month, manager Mick McCarthy said he was keen to send Crowe out on loan to gain experience.

"I’d love Michael Crowe to get out somewhere and play because that’s the problem, he’s had no real competitive football,” McCarthy said.

"Sitting on the bench is one thing, being asked to come and play after one minute that’s another thing altogether against Middlesbrough or Watford, someone like that."

Crowe looks set to make his debut this evening when the Cards face Torquay at Kingfield.

London-born Crowe, whose father is English and mother Norwegian, joined the Blues in the summer of 2012 from Kristiansand-based side IK Start, having been brought up in Norway. He qualifies for Wales through his grandmother.

He signed a two-year professional contract with the Blues in September 2013 with the club having the option to extend the deal for a further season.

Crowe has been Town's fourth-choice keeper since Paddy Kenny was recruited on a short-term deal in January but was elevated to the bench on Saturday as the former Irish international was ill and Dean Gerken wasn't risked having been knocked unconscious at Middlesbrough. Both are expected to be available again after the international break.

Blues striker Jack Marriott, currently on loan at Colchester, has spent three spells on loan at Woking - who are currently seventh, two places and four points off the play-offs - in the last two seasons.
