Summer Bid for Sergei? - Ipswich Town News
Southampton are reported to have cooled their interest in St Mirren defender Sergei Baltacha. The son of the former Town man played for their reserves on Monday bit clearly failed to impress Gordon Strachan sufficiently.
Town have been linked with Baltacha since October 1999 and a St Mirren spokesman recently admitted interest in the Scottish U21 central defender from the Blues in addition to the Saints.
George Burley denied any immediate move for Baltacha saying he was not looking to add to his squiad this season. It may be a different story come the summer.
Southampton had been expected to complete a £200,000 deal for the 22-year-old.
