Williams, Bru, Ambrose and Trialist Start for U21s - Ipswich Town News

Jonny Williams, Kevin Bru and Darren Ambrose all start for Town’s U21s in this morning’s game against Bristol City at Playford Road, along with trialist striker Daniel Akindayini (KO 11am).

Williams is building up his fitness after the groin injury which kept him out for almost five months, while Bru (calf) and Ambrose (hamstring) have both been sidelined for a several weeks and are short of match sharpness.

Akindayini, 19, is a striker who has come through Tottenham’s youth system, where Bryan Klug, Town’s academy director previously worked. He has scored four goals in 19 appearances for Spurs’ U21s this season, while he netted 15 goals in 27 appearances for their U18s last year.

Town's second string ought to win comfortably against a very much less experienced Bristol City side, who they defeated 3-0 at their Failand training ground a week ago.

U21s: Crowe, Hammond, Kenlock, Bru, Robinson, Clarke, Patterson, Ambrose, Akindayini, Williams, Henshall. Subs: McDermid, Fowler, Benyu, Guldbrandsen, Ramadan.

Bristol City: Richards, Withey, Hall, Vyner, Batten, Murphy, Morgan, Gilabert, Bishop, Andrews, Hunter. Subs: Wollacott, Long, Difford, Harper.
