Town will have nothing to fear, regardless of their opponents if they qualify for the play-offs, insists Tyrone Mings.
With the exception of Norwich, they have taken points off all the sides still in the promotion race, even beating current leaders Watford, while they beat seventh-placed Brentford once and drew once.
Mings, 22, said: "I don’t think we fear anyone if we go into the play-offs. Okay, we probably didn’t play well in either of the games against Norwich but we still go into games thinking we can beat anyone and that with our tactics and our way of playing no one will want to play against us.
"When we do what we do best we can beat anyone and I think we have proved that in the Championship this season. There isn’t anyone we might meet in the play-offs that we wouldn’t be happy playing against.
"We haven’t been looking at the teams around us trying to work out who we might play if we can secure our place in the play-offs.
"With the top four it’s so tight that any of them could drop in or out. Maybe people will have in the back of their minds which opponents they would prefer to meet but as a team it’s not really of any importance who we might get if we are in there.”
Mings is also adamant that he will be no more nervous going into Saturday’s key home clash with Nottingham Forest, a game that could secure Town’s top six status, than any other fixture this season.
He added: "It’s just another game and we’ve got to go out and do what we’ve done for the previous 44. We’ll go out there full of confidence rather than nervous and know that where we are in the league is a reflection of how well we have done as a team.
"We have progressed on last season and the season before. It’s been a gradual incline and if we can get into the play-offs I think it will just sum up everything the manager has been looking to do, which is try and get us promoted.
"The crowd can have a massive impact. I read something the other day about sales being around 22,000 and it will have a big effect if everyone gets behind us, which I’m sure they will do.
"With Nottingham Forest not having much to play for, if we can get the crowd on our side, pin them back in the first five or 10 minutes, hopefully it will set us up for a bit of an easier game.”
