Peralta Still a Doubt - Ipswich Town News

Sixto Peralta is still a big doubt ahead of Saturday's crunch clash with Southampton at Portman Road. However, there are other players on the mend.

Peralta has a thigh strain acquired in training during the Cyprus training camp. Physio Dave Williams says the injury took everyone by surprise: "It came out of the blue. Sixto was running, accelerated and strained his thigh muscle and that was it."

Others undergoing treatment include Chris Makin who has an ankle injury, but he is likely to get back into training on Thursday.

Better news is that Mark Venus is back in training after fluid build-up behind his knee. The Ex-Wolves man is relieved to be back: "I'm so glad that there appears to be no need for an operation. The scan showed that the joint and cruciate ligaments are in good shape for a player of my age, so I just need to start to see how the knee responds to full training."

Venus will be joined in training today by Tommy Miller after he recovered from a tight calf. Marcus Bent is also back in training after picking up a hamstring problem in Cyprus.

Alun Armstrong is likely to go into light training after his back was aggravated by the recent long trips.
