Town are reported to be amongst a number of clubs interested in former Rotherham midfielder Ben Pringle.
The Blues and Championship rivals Fulham, Bolton and Leeds are all keen on the 26-year-old, according to the Sheffield Telegraph, while League One sides Wigan Athletic - who we now understand are leading the chase to sign Paul Anderson - and Sheffield United are linked elsewhere.
Out-of-contract Pringle recently turned down the offer of a new three-year deal with the Millers, who he joined in 2011 from Derby County.
Prior to his time with the Rams, Newcastle-born Pringle had been playing in non-league with Newcastle Blue Star, Morpeth Town and Ilkeston Town, having been with West Brom’s academy as a youngster. While with Derby he spent a spell on loan with Torquay.
Pringle, whose set pieces led to both Rotherham’s goals in their 2-0 victory over the Blues in February, made 154 starts and 14 sub appearances for the Millers, scoring 22 goals, and helped them to promotion from League Two as runners-up in 2012/13 and League One via the play-offs in 2013/14.
