Strikers Start as Ireland and England Draw - Ipswich Town News
Blues strike pair Daryl Murphy and David McGoldrick both started for the Republic of Ireland as they drew 0-0 with England in a friendly at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin this afternoon.
McGoldrick was replaced at half-time by Southampton’s Shane Long, while Murphy, who came closest to scoring when he headed a Robbie Brady freekick wide, made way for ex-Blues skipper Jon Walters on 56.
Murphy has now won 15 full caps and McGoldrick two with both still to score an international goal.
The game was a warm-up for next Saturday’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Christophe Berra’s Scotland, also at the Aviva Stadium.
On Thursday Murphy and McGoldrick both played the first half of a behind-closed-doors training game against Northern Ireland which also ended 0-0.
