Young Full-Backs Make Ireland Trip - Ipswich Town News

Town boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed that young full-backs Josh Emmanuel and Myles Kenlock have travelled with the first-team squad to Ireland for this week’s training camp at the Carton House Hotel in Co Kildare.

Speaking last Tuesday, McCarthy said right-back Emmanuel (above), 17, and Kenlock, an 18-year-old left-back or centre-half, could make the trip if the scholars impressed him during the first week of pre-season at Playford Road.

"We’ve had a good week’s training and the lads have all come back in remarkable shape, which is credit to them all," the Blues boss told the official Town website.

"It’s been good to get back at it and it’s been good to get back in with the lads and the dressing room banter.

"We will go out to Ireland for a week and continue the hard work. It’s a good opportunity for the new lads and some of the younger boys to get integrated too.

"We’re taking Josh Emmanuel and Myles Kenlock with us. They’ve impressed me and they will join us out in Ireland.

"Then there’s the likes of Alex Henshall, who’s come back with a great attitude, Dylan Connolly and Ainsley Maitland-Niles for us to have a good look at.”

Also making the trip to Ireland are 17-year-old midfielder Adam McDonnell and 20-year-old centre-half Josh Yorwerth, who recently joined the Blues after leaving Cardiff.

The Blues open their pre-season friendly programme with a game against Connolly and McDonnell’s former club Shelbourne at Tolka Park on Saturday (KO 3pm). Admission will be €10 for adults and €5 students, OAPs and children. The club bar opens at 1pm.
