Matt and Stewy on Survival - Ipswich Town News

Matt Holland says that survival this season would be a greater achievement than last year's qualification for the UEFA Cup. Marcus Stewart says we need two more wins to keep out of trouble.

Holland said that the poor start left Town in a very difficult position: "Before Christmas we were in a nightmare situation with only nine points and everyone was writing us off as already relegated.

"But we have managed to turn things around with a great run of results and it's remarkable to see us with 30 points now and maybe four wins away from safety.

"There is still a long way to go yet but we have given ourselves a great chance of staying up.

"Qualifying for Europe last season was a fantastic performance but if we do survive this year, I would say beating the drop would be a bigger achievement, given our position in the Premiership only two months ago."

Meanwhile Marcus Stewart feels two more wins should see Town clear of trouble: "We've got to win against Southampton and one of those three away games I feel

"Draws are not too bad for us at the moment but a couple of wins would take us closer to 40 points which I think will be enough to stay up."

He also felt that the Cyprus break was like a mini-pre-season, but was enjoyable: "It was a very good break. It was like pre-season with a lot of training but we had nice weather to do it in."
