Town boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed that the foot injury striker Brett Pitman suffered in last night’s friendly at Cambridge United is nothing serious.
Pitman, 27, limped off just after half-time, having scored his fourth goal in three pre-season games before the break as the Blues won 3-2.
"It’s not too serious, just a bit of bruising,” McCarthy told the club site.
"He had ice on his foot and he said he was fine, but as soon as the second half kicked off we could tell he wasn’t fine so we took him off as a precaution. Thankfully it’s nothing serious and he’s fine.
"Jonny Parr and Murph were missing against Cambridge but they will both be in action against Peterborough on Saturday.”
After last night’s game McCarthy also confirmed that Darren Ambrose, who is training at Playford Road as he tries to win a new contract, will also be available for the trip to London Road having recovered from a minor niggle.
Meanwhile, Portsmouth manager Paul Cook says he’ll talk to the various trialists, including Town’s Matt Clarke, who were involved in last night’s friendly against Coventry about his plans for them: "We’ll speak to them all individually and see where that takes us.”
McCarthy has said he'd be happy for the 18-year-old defender to join the League Two club on loan in order to gain first-team experience.
Eight Youngsters Offered Terms Town have offered professional terms to eight youngsters including Rio Morgan (pictured), Nico Valentine, Gerrard Buabo and Leon Ayinde, while 18 of their U21s and U18s teammates have been released.
O'Shea: I'm Fully Committed to Town at the Moment Central defender Dara O’Shea says he’s “fully committed to Ipswich at the moment” and wants to get the Blues back into the Premier League, the Republic of Ireland international having been linked with Wolves, Leeds United and a return to Burnley this summer.
Clarke: Slicker Will Bounce Back, He Has a Big Future Keeper Cieran Slicker is one of three Town players who could win senior caps this evening - along with George Hirst, also with Scotland, and Nathan Broadhead with Wales - with Scots boss Steve Clarke having given the 22-year-old his backing for “a big future” following his tough international debut against Iceland on Friday evening.
