Friend Gaardsøe Recommended Town Move - Ipswich Town News

New signing Jonas Knudsen has revealed he sounded out former Town man and his one-time Esbjerg team-mate Thomas Gaardsøe before joining the Blues. The 22-year-old has signed a three-year deal with an option for a further season.

"It is a great feeling to be an Ipswich Town player and I can’t wait to start playing for the team,” the Danish international told the club site.

"I have always watched English football and have dreamed of playing here and now I’m going to have the chance to do that. It’s a really exciting move for me.

"I saw some Ipswich games last season and know the team was near the top of the league.

"I think we can have another good year and hopefully get into the Premier League. That is one of my big hopes - to get in the Premier League with Ipswich.”

He added: "I played with Thomas Gaardsøe at Esbjerg for three years and he is a friend of mine.

"He played here at Ipswich and he told me what a great club it is and that the town was good as well. He said it would be a good move for me.”

Regarding his lengthy throw, which Town supporters could see during tomorrow’s home friendly against Dutch side FC Utrecht at Portman Road, he said. "I can throw the ball a long way. Someone in Denmark said I will be the new [Rory] Delap!”
