Town to Keep Bidding for McGhee - Ipswich Town News

Town are reported to have had two bids turned down for Hearts defender Jordan McGhee and are expected to return with a third. The 19-year-old was previously mentioned in connection with the Blues last week.

Now, according to widespread reports in Scotland, Town have had two offers for the East Kilbride-born centre-half or right-back rejected but are said to be ready to return with a further bid.

According to some reports, Town's second and most recent bit was £250,000 with Hearts said to be after at least £500,000 for the highly-rated youngster.

McGhee came through the ranks at Tynecastle and has won Scotland caps with the U15s, U16s, U18s and U21s, who he captains.

Having broken into the Hearts first team late in 2012/13, McGhee has gone on to make 33 starts and 11 sub appearances, scoring four goals.

McGhee has already attracted interest from Premier League clubs, with Aston Villa and Swansea City recently linked, and in 2013 Juventus were reported to be keeping tabs on him. In January he signed a new Hearts contract which runs until the summer of 2017.
