Johnno on a Free? - Ipswich Town News
David Johnson is reportedly about to join Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer. The former Town striker left Portman Road just over a year ago for £3.5 million, but his spell at the City Ground has not gone well.
He has averaged just a goal every six games since making his move away from Town, but has impressed since going to Hillsborough on a month's loan.
Initially he was used in a wide left role, but on Saturday scored his first goal for the Owls against Bradford from his more usual striking position.
Wednesday manager Terry Yorath admitted at the weekend that he was interested in the Jamaican-born player and was to speak to his board: "I will have talks with the board on Monday and see what we can do. Some of these things are purely down to money and finance but hopefully his performance against Bradford will convince people we should keep him."
