Hearts Hope Town Have Ended McGhee Interest - Ipswich Town News
Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson says his club has heard nothing new from Town regarding right-back or centre-half Jordan McGhee and hopes the Blues have now ended their interest in the 19-year-old.
Town made offers of up to £250,000 for the Scottish U21s skipper earlier in the month and towards the end of last week were reported to have had a further bid of £500,000 rejected. But Neilson says there’s been no recent contact.
"We’ve heard nothing so I take it that deal won’t be happening if they’ve moved on,” he told the Edinburgh Evening News.
"The pleasing thing from our point of view is we get to keep a hold of Jordan. I’m sure he will be happy as well that he can stay with us and play. You just don’t know if they’ll come back in.
"When the team is successful and the players are playing well, there’s always going to be interest in them.
"Hearts want to develop players and they will move on eventually, but it has to be to the right environment and for the right price. We’ll just need to wait and see what happens. We’re prepared that, if somebody moves on, we can move for somebody else.”
