Clegg Comes on Loan - Ipswich Town News

Town have acted swiftly after learning of Gary Croft's latest period of inactivity and have taken Manchester United youngster Michael Clegg on loan for a month.

Clegg was a target of Town before Christmas as cover for Croft as he began his spell in jail, but the 22-year old player refused to come.

Now, with Croft out for a month with a gashed knee, Clegg has decided to opt for a spell at Portman Road. George Burley said: "I spoke to Sir Alex Ferguson and then had a word with the player, who was keen to come.

"I tried to get him on loan a few weeks ago, but the timing wasn't quite right."

Clegg, who was rumoured to be going on loan at Fulham earlier this week, looks likely to go into the side for Saturday's game at Crewe with the out of form Fabian Wilnis again dropping to the bench.

Town reserves meet their Millwall counterparts this afternoon at Portman Road (2pm). It is the first opportunity to have a look at French loanee Patrice Maurel.

This afternoon also sees Manu Thetis and John Kennedy play their first games since injury.

Full squad: Mike Salmon, James Pullen, John Kennedy, Manuel Thetis, Justin Miller, Stephen Moffat, Patrice Maurel, Jermaine Wright, Richard Logan, Jonas Axeldal, Marco Holster, Sean Friars, Chris Keeble, Kevin Inglis, Adam Miller and Neil Midgley.

The reserve game due to be played on February 23rd with Swindon is now on April 12th at Portman Road (2pm).

Just a reminder that Saturday's game at Crewe is all-ticket for Town fans. £14.00 for adults, £11.00 for OAPs and £6.50 for children.
