Fraser: We Couldn't Be Doing Much Better - Ipswich Town News

He’s done it once already with parent club Bournemouth and now Ryan Fraser wants to complete a quick-fire double by staging an action replay with temporary employers Town.

Fraser would like nothing more during his 12-month loan stint at Portman Road than to help Town follow the Cherries’ example and, hopefully, join them in the big-time next term.

The signs so far are extremely promising. Championship leaders Town go into today’s home clash with closest rivals Brighton seeking to extend a four-game unbeaten league run that has seen them gather 10 points from a possible 12 in the current campaign.

Fraser said: "We couldn’t really be doing much better, although we can recall what happened at Brentford and we’re thinking we could be two points clear at the top.

"That could prove crucial but we still have 42 league games left and there’s no point dwelling on what’s been and gone, better to focus on the ones coming up.

"We know it’s an important game against Brighton, not just because they are second in the table but because we have the international break coming up and everyone wants to go into that on the back of a good win and performance.

"In fact, I think it’s crucial because if you win you go into the break, you get your days off and you think about what you’ve achieved.

"You can take a lot of confidence from it, whereas if you lose and it’s a bad performance you can’t really relax because you are thinking about it and wondering what you’ve done wrong. It’s crucial that we play well and then the result will take care of itself.”

Fraser was asked if he is currently in the best for of his career and he responded: "I don’t know about that. I’m in the best scoring form of my career but I don’t know about whether it’s the best spell performance-wise.

"I just take every game as it comes and I take the confidence of scoring goals into my next game. I’d rather score goals than perform unbelievably but I just try to do my best from one game to the next.”

The diminutive Scotland U21 winger will be among the Town players involved in the forthcoming international fixtures and he added: "We’re away to Ireland so we meet up on the Sunday. I’ll get down to Bournemouth for a day and then it’s off to Scotland for a week-long camp before the game in Ireland.

"I’ve got a few caps already and I’m looking forward to the game and adding another one. I enjoy those occasions when I go back to represent Scotland.

"Bez [Christophe Berra] has been called up [although he has now withdrawn due to his hamstring injury] and it’s something I aim to do at some stage.

"But it’s a long-term, rather than short-term, plan and first and foremost I want to do well here at Ipswich. If I do that I might get my chance.”
