Nine-Man U18s Lose at Forest - Ipswich Town News

Charlie Brown and Sam Ford (pictured) were on target but Town’s U18s conceded a last minute goal to fall to a 3-2 defeat at Nottingham Forest this afternoon having been reduced to nine men.

Ben Brereton put the home side in front in the 14th minute but schoolboy Brown equalised for the Blues on 42.

Just before the break Town central defender Luke Woolfenden was the first to see red when he was dismissed from bringing down Kieran Hayes.

Tom Gamblen put Forest back in front in the 69th minute but Ford got the Blues back on terms from the penalty spot on 77.

Full-back Kieron Cathline became the second Town player to receive his marching orders in the final minute for a rash challenge, before the home side sealed the three points via late sub Virgil Gomis in injury time.

The Blues’ U21s are next in action against Hull City at Portman Road on Monday evening (KO 7pm).

U18s: Wright, Cathline, Nydam, Meldrum, Fowler, Woolfenden, Morris, Muamba, Ford, Maynard, Brown.
