Finidi Gets Warning - Ipswich Town News
Finidi George has been warned to put more effort into games by former Nigeria manager Amodu Shiabu's assistant coach Dudu Orumen. The coach echoed Nigerian press comments that Nigeria's failure in the African Nations' Cup was caused by the "tired legs" of their senior players.
Orumen said: "I watched Finidi recently in England and I found out that of the 90 minutes he was on the pitch he only played for 19 minutes. I had a timing watch so my finding is absolutely correct. Eight of his team-mates are below 25-years [we're not sure about eight under 25 players in Town's starting line-up - Ed]."
He added "They do the running for him but he doesn't have that kind of privilege in the Super Eagles because almost all the other players in the team are as old as Finidi. They are 'tired legs' too."
New manager Adegboyega Onigbinde has promised to surprise many when he announces his list of players from which he will pick his squad. Several new names are expected to be in it.
The Nigerian side will have camps in England and in Lagos ahead of the World Cup in the summer where they meet England, Argentina and Sweden in the opening phase.
