Alabi on Target But U21s Lose at Birmingham - Ipswich Town News

Town’s U21s lost 3-1 at Birmingham City this afternoon, striker James Alabi having put the Blues in front in the 31st minute.

The home side hit back after the break with Alex Jones netting on 62, Reece Brown four minutes later and Jones again on 79.

The Town side included Kevin Bru and Teddy Bishop, who are on their way back from their hamstring injuries, and recent signing Tommy Oar.

Speaking at lunchtime, manager Mick McCarthy expected the trio to be involved with the senior side facing Birmingham on Friday and in the Capital One Cup tie at Old Trafford next Wednesday.

"Into the squad [for Friday] and certainly for the cup tie at Manchester United. That’s probably worthwhile them getting fit for that one, isn’t it?”

Starting in goal was first-year scholar Harry Wright, much to his father Richard's delight.
