U21s Face Bolton - Ipswich Town News
Town’s U21s are in action against Bolton Wanderers at Portman Road this evening (KO 7pm).
Tonight’s line-up may give a few hints regarding the side which Mick McCarthy plans to field at Manchester United on Wednesday as it’s unlikely that anyone in tonight’s XI will also start at Old Trafford.
McCarthy has said he’ll be "chopping and changing” his team for Wednesday’s match with the Blues facing Bristol City in the Championship at Portman Road on Saturday.
While Town won’t be at full strength, the Blues boss is unlikely to name a side as youthful as those that took on Stevenage and Doncaster in the previous rounds of the Capital One Cup.
Meanwhile, former Blues defender Frank Yallop has been dismissed as head coach and director of soccer of the Chicago Fire.
The Fire have won just seven of their 29 games this season, losing 16 and drawing six, and are bottom of the Eastern Conference of the MLS.
Yallop, 51, took charge of the Fire in October 2013, having previously been the head coach of the San Jose Earthquakes (twice), the Canadian national team and the LA Galaxy.
