Johnno to Burnley? - Ipswich Town News

Former Town striker David Johnson could be about to rejoin his former manager Stan Ternent at Burnley. The Forest striker seems certain to leave the City Ground for a cut-price fee with some reports claiming he may even go on a free. Earlier in the week Forest turned down a request from Sheffield Wednesday to extend Johnson's loan.

Wednesday are also keen to sign Johnson permanently and the ex-Town striker enjoyed his spell at Hillsborough: "It's a shame that my month here's come to an end because I was just starting to gel with the rest of the lads and obviously I've scored two goals in my last two games. It was nice to go back up front but in fairness I enjoyed filling in at left midfield as well. To tell the truth it was just nice to be playing first team football again.

"Hopefully Wednesday can do a deal and I can come back, but that's between the two clubs really, there's not lot I can do about it apart from keep my fingers crossed that something develops over the next few days."

Johnson's agent has admitted interest from Burnley manager Stan Ternent, who managed the striker at Bury before his £800,000-plus-Chris Swailes-move to Portman Road.

The striker joined Nottingham Forest from Town in January 2001 for £3.5 million.
