Dozzell and Hayes Could Win Caps - Ipswich Town News
Academy first-year scholars Andre Dozzell and Nick Hayes could win caps this afternoon when the England U17s take on hosts Portugal in the final game of their European Championship first round qualification group.
Both teams have already qualified for the elite stage of qualifying in March having taken maximum points from their two games. England lead the group on goal difference.
Midfielder Dozzell was in the XI for the two previous games - an 8-0 win against San Marino and a 5-0 victory over Armenia in which he scored the opening goal - while keeper Hayes was an unused sub for both matches.
Dozzell, 16, has now won five U17 caps, scoring two goals, and Hayes, also 16 and a first-year scholar, two.
The 16-team European Championship finals are being staged in Azerbaijan in May.
