Trio Could Win Caps - Ipswich Town News

Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Jonathan Henly and Dylan Connolly could all add to their international caps later today.

Winger Maitland-Niles is with the England U19s for the final game of their Euro 2016 qualifying group against Italy in Macedonia this afternoon.

The England youngsters have already qualified for the next stage and will win the group as long as they don’t lose this afternoon.

Maitland-Niles, 18, scored having come on as a sub in the 2-0 victory against Macedonia in the opening game and played the full 90 minutes of the 1-0 win over Finland on Saturday. The on-loan Arsenal man has won three caps at U19 level and has scored two goals.

Keeper Henly’s Scotland U21s are in action against Iceland in a Euro 2017 qualifier at Aberdeen’s Pittodrie.

Henly, 21, who joined the Blues earlier in the season following a trial having been released by Reading, was left out of the matchday squad for the game against the French. The Woking-born stopper has been capped once at U21 level.

Winger Ryan Fraser was in the Scotland U21 squad but has been ruled out for at least two months with a medial knee ligament injury suffered in training on Friday.

Connolly is with the Republic of Ireland U21 squad who face Italy in Vicenza this afternoon.

The 20-year-old wideman won his seventh U21 cap when he came on as a sub during Ireland’s 3-0 victory over Lithuania on Friday.
