Town are reported to be amongst a number of league clubs keeping tabs on Grays Athletic central midfielder Nathan Ferguson.
According to the Sunday People the Blues and fellow Championship sides Reading and Charlton are keen on the box to box midfielder, while Premier League West Ham are amongst the clubs to have sent scouts to run the rule over Ferguson, whose club are currently sixth in the Ryman League Premier Division.
Earlier this week, Grays revealed that League One Fleetwood Town havev issued a seven-day notice officially informing them of their intention to approach Ferguson as they are permitted to do with a non-contract player.
Town boss Mick McCarthy has previously had notable successes when dipping into non-league having signed Michael Kightly from Grays when Wolves manager and picking up Tyrone Mings from Chippenham Town for the Blues for £10,000 and selling him in an £8 million deal in the summer.
