Parr Looking Forward to Facing Old Friend - Ipswich Town News

Jonny Parr is looking forward to being reunited with his friend and former Crystal Palace and Town colleague Jonny Williams when the Blues face the Wales international’s current loan club Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday.

Williams joined Forest in September - he's made two sub appearances so far - having spent three temporary stints at Portman Road in the previous two seasons in which he scored two goals in 15 starts and five sub appearances.

He could make his first start for Forest tomorrow with Dougie Freedman's side having a number of midfielders injured or suspended.

Parr said: "I am looking forward to playing against him at the weekend if we are both picked. We are good friends and it will be great to see him again. I’m pleased for him that he is fit again and able to play after suffering from a lot of injuries last season.

"I saw he also started for Wales against Andorra and he has next summer’s European Championships to look forward to. He’s a great guy and a good footballer.

"I am also looking forward to seeing the Forest manager Dougie Freedman because he was the one who brought me over to England to play for Crystal Palace and I enjoyed playing for him.

"I really enjoyed my time with him there and it will be good to see him again, but hopefully we will be the team getting the three points.

"It was a big move for me to join Palace and I will always be grateful to Dougie for signing me.

"He’s quite similar as a manager to Mick McCarthy because he demands that his team works hard together. That is definitely his thing.

"At Palace we had some quick, tricky wingers but mostly his teams are solid and hard to beat. They are going into the game needing a win as much as we do so it is going to be tight and tough. Hopefully we’ll come out on top.”
