Town utility man Jonny Parr hasn’t given up hope of representing Norway in the European Championships hosted by France next summer.
The Norwegians, who finished third behind group winners Italy and runners-up Croatia, have a play-off double header against Hungary next month to determine whether they will be one of the 24 countries taking part in the final stages.
Parr has won nine senior caps after representing his country at U17, U19 and U21 levels but is yet to be called up since joining Town and accepts that he must re-establish himself with the Blues if he is to earn an international recall.
He said: "I would love to be going to France next summer but first of all I have to play regularly for Ipswich and that’s my main aim at the moment.
"I have always wanted to be a part of the national team. We are doing really well at the moment and we have a lot of good young players coming through.
"It’s an exciting time with the Euro play-off games coming up next month and I think we have a really good chance of going through.
"I just have to stay fit and get back to playing every week if I can, and after that I’ll just have to wait and see if I’m selected.
"It would be huge for Norway to be in the Euros — that’s one of the biggest things you can achieve at international level — and it would be very nice to be a part of it next summer.
"Put it this way, I haven’t given up hope but I know that how I am doing for Ipswich will play a big part in whether I am picked or not.”
Parr, who scored his first goal of the season after coming on as a sub at Nottingham Forest on Saturday, could get the run in the Town side he says he needs in order to further his international ambitions with Jonas Knudsen having suffered a hamstring problem at the City Ground.
Danish international Knudsen will have his own hopes of making it to next summer’s finals, he has won two full caps, with Denmark facing Sweden in a two-legged play-off.
Strikers Daryl Murphy and David McGoldrick look set to be named in the Republic of Ireland squad for their Euro play-off ties against Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The first game in Bosnia will take place on Friday 13th November with the second at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin on the following Monday.
