Town strikers David McGoldrick and Daryl Murphy have both been named in a 39-man provisional Republic of Ireland squad ahead of their two-legged Euro 2016 play-off against Bosnia and Herzegovina next month.
The first game in Zenica, Bosnia will take place on Friday 13th November with the second at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin on the following Monday. The squad will be reduced before they meet up on Monday 9th November.
"After finishing third in a difficult qualifying group, we enter into the play-offs against a very good team in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” manager Martin O’Neill said at a press conference this morning.
"Our fate is in our own hands and we will be doing all that we can to qualify for next summer's finals.
"We will play the second leg at the Aviva Stadium and that is a big plus for us because the Irish supporters were fantastic in our last game there against Germany and we know that there will be a similar atmosphere for this play-off."
Murphy has previously won 17 full caps and McGoldrick two and both are still looking for their first international goals.
Former Blues skipper Jon Walters, ex-loanee Paul Green and one-time Town academy schoolboy and ballboy Richard Keogh are also in the squad.
