Oar: It's All a Bit of a Blur - Ipswich Town News

Blues winger Tommy Oar has revealed that he doesn’t remember much about his Town full league debut in the 0-0 home draw with Huddersfield earlier this month.

The 23-year-old was subbed at half-time having suffered a concussion in an early clash with Terriers keeper Jed Steer.

The summer Bosman signing was left out of the 18 for the subsequent away games against Hull City and Nottingham Forest but says he should be available for Saturday's home match against Cardiff City.

"I only remember a couple of minutes of the game, but I saw the replay of the collision and it was quite a heavy one," Oar told Australian website The World Game.

"It took a bit of a toll but I am back in training now and hopefully available for the weekend.

"There was a long ball over the top, I was chasing it and the keeper came out and missed the ball and ran [straight] into me instead.

"I came back on after a couple of minutes but the rest is just a blur, other than a couple of dead balls which I took. Apart from that, there's really nothing."

He added: "The boss joked the next day and told me it wasn’t my best performance. It's always hard when you come to a new club, and these types of things don't help. It's frustrating.

"I was with the doctors afterwards for a few hours and they took me through a protocol for concussion injuries and I was told mine was a classic case. It’s not something you can take too many risks with.”

Oar says he was pleased with his performance in his first game for the Blues, the Capital One Cup defeat at Old Trafford.

"Against Manchester United, I played the whole game on the right and thought it was my best performance so far, and I like to have that freedom to cut inside,” he said. "But I am comfortable with either role, and also in the midfield.”

Yesterday, the former FC Utrecht and Brisbane Roar man was named in the Australia squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Kyrgyzstan and Bangladesh as the Socceroos look to bounce back after their 2-0 defeat in Jordan earlier in the month.
