McDonnell Nets from Spot as U21s Draw at Charlton - Ipswich Town News

Adam McDonnell netted a fourth minute penalty as Town’s U21s drew 1-1 with Charlton at VCD Athletic’s Oakwood ground this afternoon.

The Irish U19 international converted the spot-kick after Josh Umerah had been penalised for handball following a Town corner.

The Addicks, who went into the game top of the U21 Professional Development League Two South, equalised via Chris Millar 10 minutes after the break.

The Blues fielded a young team with no senior players involved. Teddy Bishop was left out as the Blues continue to take his comeback slowly.

First-year scholar Andre Dozzell, a regular in the U21s this season, was also missing having suffered an ankle ligament injury in the recent game at Bristol City and is likely to be sidelined for a couple of months.

U21s: Crowe, Hammond, Fowler, Robinson, Kenlock, Benyu, McDonnell, Ramadan (Downes 55), Connolly (Ford 77), Alabi, Henshall. Unused: Marsden, Salaudeen, McKendry.
