Emmanuel Joins Yorwerth at Crawley - Ipswich Town News

Right-back Josh Emmanuel, 18, has joined League Two Crawley Town on loan until January 2nd.

Manager Mick McCarthy says the switch came about after he made the trip to the Broadfield Stadium to watch another Blues loanee, Josh Yorwerth, in action on Tuesday.

"I was at Crawley watching Josh Yorwerth the other night and they’ve done really well, Crawley,” he said.

"Josh has certainly helped them move out of that relegation zone. They played Newport and they were bottom and third-bottom when they went there and they’re 15th at the minute.

"[Crawley manager] Mark Yates is looking for players and he’s got Lewis Young playing at right-back, who is a winger.

"So if they need one Josh Emmanuel would be perfect for them, if that’s what he’s going to do, play him there, that would be great.

"When he played against Brentford in the first game and was excellent and he’s played in the cup ties and played well. He’s more than capable of playing at that level but he needs first-team football.

"We can’t just keep dragging him around and having him on the bench and playing U21 games, he needs to have a run of games.”

Crawley boss Yates said: "Josh is highly regarded by Mick McCarthy and we’re delighted he has agreed to let us have him for what is going to be a busy period.

"He’s athletic and aggressive and I think he will adapt well to the rigours of League Two. We’d like to thank Ipswich for letting us have Josh.”

McCarthy confirmed that there would be no more loan moves in or out before today's 5pm deadline.
