Town boss Mick McCarthy says he’s not bothered where the Blues pick up their points as long as they’ve accumulated enough come the end of the season.
Having won 50 of their 78 points at Portman Road as they finished sixth in the Championship last season, the Blues - who climbed back to that final play-off spot at the weekend - have gained more away - 17 out of 31 - than they have on home turf so far during 2015/16.
"It’s nice to win at home because most of our fans are at home,” McCarthy said. "But I’m not bothered where we get them from as long as we get enough points, that’s my view.”
There were around 3,000 Town fans watching Saturday’s 1-0 away win against the MK Dons and the Town boss paid tribute to them: "They were great, brilliant support.”
The victory was Town’s third in a row on the road following the defeats of Rotherham and Charlton, the first time the Blues have managed a trio of away wins in the league since beating Derby, Crystal Palace and Barnsley in January 2009.
The last time Town won four games on the trot on their travels in the league was back in March and April 2004 when Walsall, Wimbledon, Rotherham and Gillingham were all put to the sword.
Town have the chance to match that run when they travel to Fulham on Tuesday evening.
"It’s another one we’ve got to deal with and see whether we can get some more points away from home because then we have got tough games coming up,” McCarthy added.
"I don’t like looking beyond them but we’ve got Brighton, we’ve got Burnley, we’ve got QPR. We’ve got a tough old December, but that’s a great start for us.”
